This site provides documentation and instructions for using Hillsborough, the branded NC State WordPress theme, and the NC State Shortcodes plugin. Both of these resources were created by OIT Design to provide campus WordPress users with a set of accessible, university-brand compliant web design resources.

Hillsborough Theme

Hillsborough is a multipurpose, NC State-branded WordPress theme. It is freely available to any campus unit. Hillsborough is the base theme that OIT Design uses for many of its projects, and is designed to be flexible and extendable for any campus project.

If you’re just getting started with a campus WordPress site, or if you would like to update your existing site, visit our Hillsborough Theme page. You’ll find instructions on how to install the theme on your site and how to customize it to meet your needs.

 

NC State Shortcodes

If your are looking for tools to help design and enhance the functionality of the pages in your site, visit our  NC State Shortcodes Plugin page. You’ll find instructions on how to install the plugin on your site as well as  explanations of the various page elements you can create using our shortcodes. Once you’ve installed the plugin (and its accompanying Shortcake user interface), you’ll be able to create page elements that highlight, organize and search the information on your site through our simple WYSIWYG user interface, with no knowledge of coding required.
